In what some stakeholders are beginning to see as a clever strategy by the federal Ministry of Transportation to weld into the crisis hampering the effective take off of the activities of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), government has allocated a new head office, to be known as the Freight Forwarders Headquarters (FFH).
In a statement issued by the Head, Corporate Affairs of the council, Chinyere Uromta, the Minister’s approval was conveyed by the Director, General Services of the Ministry.
The statement said “This gesture suggests that the movement of CRFFN headquarters to the new place has become paramount and urgent for effective delivery of her regulatory and enforcement functions and for her prompt attention to the training needs of the practitioners as the complex would contain training and seminar halls”.
In his response, Registrar of the Council, Sir Mike Jukwe expressed appreciation to the minister for the initiative and reaffirmed the Council’s readiness to deliver on its mandate.
Business Hilights recalls that a section of the constituting member associations had expressed displeasure on the way and manner elections to the board of the council was done, leading to breakdown of the effective takeoff of the body’s activities for some time now.
