The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, on Saturday raised the stake of the federal agency in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital as she paid scheduled visit to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps..

Usman defied the anxiety generated by the early morning twin bomb blasts to pay scheduled visit to IDPs camps.

Two female suicide bombers had in the early hours of Saturday blown themselves up in a village near Maiduguri, leaving five people injured.

Adhering to her scheduled programme for the day, Usman moved straight from the Airport to the Government House in Maiduguri where she was accorded a warm reception by State Government representatives led by Governor Kashim Shettima.

Usman in company of Governor Shettima drove to the premises of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to formerly hand over the relief materials for the IDPs to the State Governor.

Items handed over to the Governor at the symbolic ceremony by the NPA boss were 29, 200 blankets, cartons of indomie noodles, 107,450 pieces of mats, 2,540 bags of 50kg rice, 2,100 bags of beans, 600 bags of corn, 1,400 bags of semovita, 1,660 kegs of palm oil, 830 pieces of mattress, 2,100 pieces of mosquito nets, 4,620 pieces of wrappers and 1,950 pieces of rechargeable and solar lanterns.

She also used the opportunity to commend security agencies for their efforts, adding that she’s of the firm belief that other Chibok girls abducted almost three years ago would be rescued.

In his response, Governor Shettima commended Usman for her dedication, simplicity and donations on behalf of NPA towards the upkeep of the IDPs.

NPA boss also visited hospital where she consoled with victims of the insurgency, Usman visited the Bakkassi Camp, distributed relief materials and interacted directly with the IDPs.
