Contrary to earlier speculations that several Nigerians were excited about the recent announcement of the release of a revamped version of the popular Nokia 3310, opinion poll by Business Hilights research team has shown that majority of Nigerians preferred Android or smart phones to the new Nokia 3310.

Many respondents in Lagos and Abuja queried what a person will be doing with any model of feature phones when the market prices of smart phones has continued on a downward trend for some time now.

They argued that no matter the strength of battery power it is coming with or any additional feature, Nokia 3310 cannot be compared to a smart phone in a changing digital world unless there are some smart features coming with it.

Business Hilights recalls that the phone remains the pride of every high end Nigerian and some emerging middle class during the first one year of GSM revolution in Nigeria, but the phone which was first produced in the year 2000 was known for its durability and long battery life.

The new improved Nokia 3310 was unveiled during HMD Global press conference on Sunday, February 26 this year.

The phone which will be released by the new Finnish producers of Nokia known as HMD Global, is expected to be sold in markets across the world in the second quarter of the year.

Some of the residents who spoke said they were happy that such a phone was being revamped giving reasons why they would be patronising the model.
