The Chief Executive Officer of Computer Warehouse Group Plc (CWG), James Agada has given a convincing hint that if government can take issues of youth empowerment schemes very seriously using the window of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), over 43 million youths will be directly engaged in productive ventures.
Explaining his submission at a recent youth empowerment programme in Lagos, he advised government at all levels in the country to invest heavily into youth entrepreneurship.
He said apart from the direct jobs which the operators would give themselves, there will over 20 million jobs sprouting from the multiplier effects and indirect jobs if all the governments’ youth empowerment schemes are designed to be sustainable.
According to him, empowering the SMEs is the solution to unemployment in the country because they are the backbone of the Nigerian economy, where they are taking over 42.41 million persons off the unemployment space and making a contribution of about 46.54 per cent to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product in nominal terms.
Agada noted further that his firm will continue to develop smart applications that will drive the stability of SMEs after takeoff.
He added that one of the best among the smart apps already developed by CWG is the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which integrates areas such as planning, purchasing, inventory, sales, marketing, finance, distribution and human resources of SMEs.
