The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has calmed frayed nerves in Akwa Ibom State that the proposed Ibaka Deep Sea Port will be delivered on time. This is contrary to earlier speculations that it may be discontinued due to paucity of fund and associated opposition since the conceptualization some years ago.

Answering questions during his Town Hall meeting which formed part of stakeholders’ engagements in his peace tour of the Niger Delta region, emphasized on the importance of the Ibaka deep Sea port project, saying that, the Federal Government is seriously committed to its realization.

Osinbajo told stakeholders that “Indeed as a matter of fact, in the 2017 budget there is already a provision for the Ibaka port,” revealing that “There is already N1billion provision in the 2017 budget for the project”.

“It is a matter we take seriously and we intend to partner with the Akwa Ibom State Government as the scheme will further attract private investments.
