Assistant Comptroller General of Customs in-charge of Zone A, Lagos, ACG Monday Abue has warned officers not to indulge themselves on practices that will bring bad image to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
ACG Abue who is on familiarity tour of all the command and units under his watch also sought for the cooperation of all the staff in the zone.
He warned them on resisting postings as that will limit their knowledge of the job. “I have gone round the commands, for you to be a proper customs officer, you should be able to work anywhere in the country. Don’t restrict yourself to a particular command or unit. I am saying this, because some of you will be posted out soon from your command, when transfer comes, don’t try to dodge so that you can learn new things and do your job effectively.
Abue also encouraged them to continue to carry out 100 per cent inspection of cargoes at the ports to avoid mistakes.
He warned them against corruption saying the Service no longer have room for such vices, as such they should avoid the temptation of compromising in their jobs “even if it takes two days or more to examine a container, please do, so as to do a thorough job.”
