Capture of Sambisa Forest best signal of the year to foreign investors—-Amodu
Just as elated President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Nigerian Army for moving in and finally crushing the last enclave of Boko Haram in the deadly Sambisa Forest, a development analyst, Haruna Amodu has described the feat as the best inviting signal and security confidence to prospective foreign investors in 2016.
Responding to interview questions on telephone, Amodu said “To some of us in the business development and financial services sector, the crushing of Sambisa has reawakened our confidence in the government. Not only for Nigerians, it is a good signal for investors.
“As am talking to you now, this feat is enough to add value to naira if we have been calibrating the currency with real life situations.
Continuing, Amodu noted that no foreign investor will fear the depreciation of naira value because it is a great advantage to people coming in with their money. But what is worrisome in their mind is always security and the fear of Boko Haram.
“However, as the enclave of the insurgents has fallen, the fears of foreign investor are no more founded, meaning that next year will be better as more investors will come in seamlessly.
In a statement personally signed by him, the president urged the military to maintain the tempo by pursuing the insurgents and bringing them to justice.
“I am delighted at, and most proud of the gallant troops of the Nigerian Army, on receipt of the long-awaited and most gratifying news of the final crushing of Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave in Sambisa Forest.
“I want to use this opportunity to commend the determination, courage and resilience of troops of Operation Lafiya Dole for finally entering and crushing the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents at ‘Camp Zero’, which is located deep within the heart of Sambisa Forest.
“I was told by the Chief of Army Staff that the Camp fell at about 1:35pm on Thursday, December 22, that the terrorists are on the run and no longer have a place to hide. I urge you to maintain the tempo by pursuing them and bringing them to justice,” President Buhari urged.
President therefore called on all Nigerians to cooperate and support the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies by providing useful information that would expose all the terrorists hiding among the populace.
