Usman charges NPA staff to raise service efficiency for better results

The reformist Managing Director of Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Ms Hadiza Bala Usman has urged the staff of the agency to reposition their mindset towards efficient service delivery to the nation by way of promoting productivity and accountability in the agency’s operations.

Speaking during the Long Service Awards ceremony organised by the authority in Lagos, Ms Usman informed them that the management has decided to review their rent allowances next year and told them the need to carry out their official responsibilities diligently and in line with best practices.

Represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mohammed Bello Koko, the managing director made it clear that the issue of staff promotion would always be handled  promptly and in line with performance appraisals in order to challenge workers to brace up for better accomplishment.

On the Long Service Awards, Usman said because of the reawakening created by the ceremony, NPA will continue to hold annually as part of new reforms to drive efficiency and in order to recognise the contributions of all members of staff that have served the authority meritoriously.

She added that the concession regime had promoted the port business and yielded the benefits to the Federal Government, the private terminal operators, service providers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.

A statement signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Chief Michael Ajayi revealed that a total of 481 and 183 staff belonging to 201some of the gift items include 3 and 2012 categories were given awards respectively.

Some of the gifts include refrigerators, air conditioners, television sets and other home appliances.
