The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman Wednesday reechoed her struggle to recover all trapped money belonging to the agency in some banks, especially Heritage Bank.

Addressing newsmen in Lagos at a media parley to mark her first 100 days in Office, Ms. Usman said “We are pursuing our money in Heritage Bank even though they have paid some amount, but they must pay all as this administration cannot condone abuse of any government fund in any form”.

“As am talking to you now, heritage Bank is still indebted to NPA to the tune of $19mn and all we are saying is for the bank to pay us the money.

She revealed that both NPA and the indebted troubled bank are still having meetings with the chief broker of the repayment deal, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on how to complete the payment as soon as possible.

Continuing, Ms. Usman made it clear that “All we are doing is see all our trapped funds returned to the coffers of the government and the treasury Single Account (TSA) in particular.

She recalled that immediately she took over in July, her administration discovered that this fund had not been swept into the TSA by Heritage Ban, saying “We are still pursuing it and we will pursue it more aggressively until the funds are returned to us”.
