The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Ms. Hadiza Usman has disclosed that her leadership is currently partnering with experts from the United States of America (USA) Coast Guard to re-position key infrastructure at the Nigerian ports.

Addressing journalists Wednesday in Lagos at a parley to mark her first 100 days in office, she said the Authority is already gaining from the experience of the US experts who she said are in Nigeria to look at what the NPA has been doing.

Explaining issues on the obligations of the NPA in ISPS Codes, Usman said “NPA had been mindful of the importance and have been leading in the implementation of ISPS Code”.

“This afternoon (Wednesday), one of the meetings we have already had was with top officials of the US Coast Guard and they have come to look at our facilities to see our level of compliance with ISPS code”.

“We are very much familiar with it and our General Manager, Security is very much on hand to confer with the US experts as am talking to you.

“The combined team is currently understudying the situation at the ports and after this round of study; they are also coming back in February possibly to provide grading for our terminals.

Elated managing director of NPA revealed further that NPA has communicated all terminal operators on the development and they on their own are doing the needful to make sure we get the best by February next year when the team returns.

He noted that all terminal operators are in compliance with the provisions of the ISPS code even as more efforts are still being made to grow better.
