Huawei wins double in S/Africa, drives new investments

Leading technology group, Huawei has won double awards including, the Most Significant LTE Development, and Delivering Excellence in Customer Experience at the AfricaCom 2016 awards dinner held at in Cape Town, South Africa.

The elated group also revealed strategic investments plans that will accelerate the proliferation of digital services in the African continent for telecom operators noting that digital transformation is the engine for Africa telecom industry growth, which will also empower the innovation of other industries.

Speaking at the conference, Huawei said it will focus on its core businesses and is committed to empowering carriers’ digital transformation with continuous strategic investment aiming at opening up platform capabilities to help carriers to build an open, collaborative, and win-win industry ecosystem to accelerate digital transformation.

Huawei’s Southern Africa region president, Mr. Li Peng said, “This year Huawei has demonstrated that it is best positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting digital transformation and development of ICT in Africa.

 “Today, we see that behind a globally competitive connectivity is a strong, collaborative industry chain with high levels of technological convergence and industry integration Huawei looks forward to working closely with industries and academia in the continent to create a Better Connected Africa” he said.

The Most Significant LTE development award was awarded jointly to Huawei and MTC, the leading telecom operator in Namibia, for the introduction of LTE and 4.5G in Namibia. As a LTE pioneer in Africa, MTC launched its LTE network in 2012, partnering with Huawei.

It would be recalled that in April this year, witnessed by the President of Namibia, MTC and Huawei conducted the first 4.5G trial in Namibia, with peak speed at 1Gbps. The 4.5G will have a significant positive contribution to the digital society, bringing cutting-edge communication to citizens, businesses and governments, opening innovations that in the end will create new jobs and the new technology will not only benefit Namibian society, but also open a new gateway for the whole of the African continent.

This award recognizes Huawei’s contribution to the industry in Africa and Huawei will continue to work with ICT operators, standardization organizations, industry organizations and a wide range of co-operations to promote the ICT industry in Namibia and also across the African continent.

The Delivering Excellence in Customer Experience award was won by Huawei’s Customer Experience Management (CEM) solution which is business driven and targets high-end telcos that aim to improve their business and operation performance and deliver a great customer experience to their end user.
