DSS hits Kano illegal BDC operators, arrest 55

Barely one week after cleaning up the streets of Port Harcourt and some parts of Lagos and Abuja, yesterday, the operatives of Department of State Security (DSS) in Kano raided key high streets including the famous Wapa Bureau d’ Change in Fagge area of the city. Financial experts had continued to hail the efforts of the DSS in raiding the illegal operators who they say are allowed to decide the fate of industrialists and government activities.

The Auditor General of Al Amanat Association of Bureau de Change, Alhaji Abdulhamid Kabir, who confirmed the arrests, disclosed that his members were amongst those arrested.

He said, “The DSS had a meeting with us earlier in the month and notified us of the need to control the exchange rate.

“Some of us have started adjusting the prices and the price rose again which made our people hike the prices.”

Kabir appealed to the Federal Government to give them some more time to adjust.
