Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Bello Mahmoud has assured prospective Nigerians and international investors planning to register a new business that come January, next year, it will take the commission not more than six hours to complete the registration of a new company provided all needed documents are intact.
It would be recalled that the commission has been working on the dream with leading digital services provider, Remita on the project before now.
Mahmoud said by year-end, the key objective of the CAC is not to ensure that company names are registered in Nigeria “under 6 hours, but a businessman registering his company will have no need for a lawyer to register a business with CAC”.
He said the CAC would upload on the internet, records of all companies registered in Nigeria for easy access by the public. This accruing to him will raise confidence and genuineness of companies doing business in Nigeria at all times to possible partners.
Checks by Business Hilights show that currently, it takes average of two months to get a new company registered if you are pursuing the process outside Abuja.
