The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reechoed its initial position that no proven research has linked emissions from the telecom Base Transceiver Station (BTS) to being hazardous or in any way harmful to humans.
The NCC stated this during a Community Sensitization Programme at the palace of the District Head in Sheka District of Kano State. The programme was organized by the Commission’s Kano Zonal Office.
Mallam Adamu Amshi, Zonal Controller, Kano Zonal Office of the commission said “The aim objective of the Programme is to enlighten the Community on the non-harmful nature of electromagnetic field (EMF) emission from Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and its importance to robust network availability and accessibility”.
The District Head, Community Elders and Stakeholders in the community said the false belief most of the times fueled the resistance of installation of BTS in the Sheka Community of Kano State.
