Two leading international airports in Nigeria, Lagos and Abuja Tuesday assumed the near status of ghost vicinity. Checks by Business Hilights can reveal.
Though many thought the depopulation was due to closure of international flights from mainly busy destinations, some old staff at the airport confided in our correspondents that many of them decided to flee the complex out fears that all the confirmed cases of COVID-19 passed through either of the airports.
The workers further revealed that many airline counters were empty as only a few passengers turned up for scheduled flights at both the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), and MMA Terminal Two (MMA2).
Also, there was serious drop in the number of Car hire operators and allied services providers’ in both mega airports ever since it became clear that majority of all cases passed through the airports.
However, checks at domestic airlines counters showed that passenger traffic was dropping on domestic routes as many begin to observe home stay even though local flights are not interrupted as Air Peace, Arik Air, AZMAN Air, Max Air, Overland Airways are still in full business.
