We’re working on either inviting INEC or closing market for PVC—Illechukwu
The Chairman of Lagos International Trade Fair Stakeholders Association (LITFSA), who doubles as the President of Association of Progressive Traders (APT), Chief Eric Ifeanyichukwu Illechukwu (Akunwafor), has said that his leadership is currently discussing with Lagos State INEC on the possibility of coming to the complex with their permanent Voters Card (PVC) machines for a specific number of days to capture business owners who are yet to get their PVCs. Registration and collection of PVCs ends on June 30, 2022 nationwide.
It would be recalled that LITFSA is the umbrella body for all business groups at the complex including ASPMDA, BBA, APT, ATV, Tools & Hardware Group, Mandilas, Machine Parts Dealers, Swiss Park, LakeView, Plaza Owners Group, Call Park and others.
In an interview with Business Hilights, Chief Illechukwu, however averred that should in case the plan fails, stakeholders will meet to select two comfortable days to close the market so that everybody will go for their PVCs.
He therefore advised members to keep their fingers cross on directives that will come from his office on the matter as soon as possible.
Last week, the Alaba Amalgamated market Association shut down the market for members to go for their PVCs.
He revealed that the idea of working out a plan that will enable members get their PVCs was reached during the recent meeting of Igbo Amaka Market Association in Lagos.
On recent successful elections amongst some business associations in the Trade Fair complex, Stakeholders boss congratulated all associations in the complex that have conducted their free, fair and credible elections recently and urged some whose own had been hanging to learn from the successful ones to enthrone democratic governance in the complex.
Some of the associations he congratulated include Africa Tyre Village (ATV), machine parts dealers and others.
