At a time the Federal Government is meeting with telecommunications operators and other key stakeholders in the sector over the recent court judgement halting the government from disconnecting SIM cards not linked to National Identity Numbers by April 6, former second National Vice-President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and human rights lawyer, Monday Onyekachi Ubani, has averred that under normal circumstance, the two months extension secured in the court judgement should start from April 6, 2021.

Recall that the chairman of NBA Ikeja Branch had filed an originating motion and asked the court to stop the Nigerian Communications Commission from disconnecting all SIM cards not linked to NINs.

Business Hilights gathered that officials of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, the NCC as well as operators in the telecommunications space would consider the implications of the court ruling and rule of law in Nigeria.
