Somalia begs Ghana at ITU, seeks to model agency after NCA

Because of the innovations and industry regulatory intelligence so far demonstrated in Africa by the Ghanaian National Communications Authority (NCA) over the years, the Special Advisor to the Somalian Minister of Communications enquired from the NCA how to establish an industry regulatory body.

Speaking at the ITU Telecom World conference in Busan, Korea, the aide revealed that the target of approaching Ghana amongst others is to make it work like the NCA.

Currently Somalia is in the process of establishing a communications industry regulatory body.

According to the official, learning from Ghana will Somalia better based on the stability of regulations and attractive policies that have been driving inflow of foreign investors in the sector.

Ghana is being represented at the ITU Telecom World by a team led by Deputy Minister of Communications, Nenyi George Kojo Andah, and the team comprise of the NCA, National Information Technology Agency (NITA), Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC), Subah Ghana, GCNet, Wireless Applications Service Providers Association of Ghana (WASPAG) and the Bank of Ghana.
