Satellite Town, Ijegun residents protest against sitting of new Tank Farm
Having been suffering traffic gridlocks and insecurity crisis for years due to location of over 15 Tank Farms, residents of Satellite Town and Ijegun community in Oriade LCDA, Satellite Town of Lagos State, have protested fresh move to compound the situation with new tank farm.
Reports say few weeks ago, some veiled businessmen in connivance with some compromised residents met in a secret place at Park View, Ikoyi to approve a fake Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) document.
Additional reports say the real stakeholders, who are against the plan because of its gross negative implications were shut out.
However, the stakeholders were said to have forced themselves into the venue and rattled the meeting forcing the team to flee.
As a way of consolidating the rejection of the project, the real stakeholders put up a stiff opposition and stormed the planned site of the project with protest.
Efforts to confirm the authenticity of the approval for the project at Lagos State Government secretariat after the protest failed as no official is willing to comment on the issue.
