Resolutions of South-East Governors Forum on Fulani Herdsmen, banditry

After the weekend’s meeting of South-East Governors Forum on regional security, the following resolutions were passed to drive safety and security of lives and property in the zone.

They agreed that;

  1. Enugu airport to open December 2019 after renovation.
  2. Joint air patrol to flush out bandits in all the forests in southeast.
  3. No more foot movement of cattle and herdsmen from one state to another.
  4. No more foot movement of cattle from community to another across farmlands.
  5. Any cattle herder with gun or machete will be arrested.
  6. Southeast governors never invited the army nor requested for Operation Python dance in the region.
  7. Adequate security to be provided along the routes to Owerri airport where flights have been diverted due to closure of Enugu airport.
  8. Southeast governors to meet with Mr President.
  9. Commended governor Ugwuanyi for establishing forest guards and asked other states to take a cue from Enugu state govt and establish forest guards.
