Party stakeholder sees APC nationwide ward congress crisis as Odigie-Oyegun led coup
Ebonyi State born-politician top official of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Julius Ucha, has traced the observed fracas that trailed majority of the party’s ward congress nationwide as the handiwork of the party’s national chairman.
According to him, “John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee (NWC) carried out a civilian coup against the party supporters and President Muhammadu Buhari”.
In a media chat in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Ucha, the 2015 APC governorship candidate in the state alleged that the crisis and violence that trailed ward congress across the country were caused by the ‘illegal and unethical’ actions of the NWC members.
Ucha argued that the way and manner with which the congresses went have technically thrown the party into anarchy and endangered the democratic process, resulting to violence and lawlessness, as people were not given the freedom to choose their party leaders.
He added that the Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC perpetrated the crisis, as its members were bent on destroying the party to satisfy their selfish interests possibly because they failed to secure the tenure elongation they targeted.
