The head of public relations at Sifax Group, a leading sea and air logistics firm, Mr. Muyiwa Akande has disclosed that “The rate at which higher institutions of learning churn out graduates is far higher when compared with the jobs that are created”.
He said despite this challenge, many graduates are still bugged by the job-seeking syndrome. You don’t blame them. The school curriculum is faulty and not in tune with the country’s economic realities. Students are literally prepared in our school for employment seeking.
Speaking on the sidelines of ongoing ‘Next Titan Reality Show’ designed to grow talented entrepreneurs, Akande averred that “The viable alternative of entrepreneurship is still not explored by many. The myriads of problems in the country provide a good opportunity for those who can provide solutions to make good money to impact the economy and create more jobs.
“To begin on this journey, these graduates need help. Help in crystallizing their ideas. Help in training. Help in mentorship. Help in financing and more.
“These are some of the objectives of The Next Titan, an entrepreneurship reality TV Show. Over the last five years, the show has positively challenged and supported young aspiring entrepreneurs to chart their path. Many of them now run their businesses and have created job opportunities for others.
“Due to the show’s impact, my company, SIFAX Group, has consistently sponsored the show since inception. It’s part of our contribution to youth empowerment and socio-economic development of the country.
