Okorocha to declare State of Emergency on oil communities over infrastructure deficit

All is set for the declaration of State of Emergency on the poor state of life and business supporting infrastructure in Imo State oil producing communities.

Already, the state government has approved N2billion for rehabilitation of infrastructure in Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta local councils of the state.

The State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha disclosed the plans during the visit of Imo State Amnesty Committee members chaired by his wife, Nneoma Nkechi okorocha at the Government House, Owerri.

Explaining more on the way and manner the declaration of the state of emergency will work; Okorocha noted that it would follow up by launching of a scheme to be known as “Recovery of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta councils.

He said as soon as the emergency is declared officials of government would relocate to the areas for 30 days to ensure quick completion of the mapped out projects.

Part of the security system to grow peace in the embattled oil communities, according to the Governor would be the deployment of over 1,000 repentant youths to mount surveillance on oil pipelines.

Explaining their work template, chairperson of the State Amnesty Committee and wife of the Governor, Mrs. Okorocha told her husband that the committee had recommended the building of schools, health centres and recruitment of teachers and health workers in the areas.
