Okorocha: No contract between 2011 and 2019 passed through me—State Auditor
First test case for the new governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma on his leadership strength to face former Governor Rochas Okorocha and tell him that financial miscarriages reigned supreme during his eight years has emerged.
Recall that ahead of the election, the former Governor was bent on frustrating Uzodinma for his son-in-law, Mr Uche Nwosu, but the Supreme Court ruling being contested by the ousted Governor Emeka Ihedioha returned Senator Hope Uzodinma.
However, the way and manner the current governor would follow the latest State Audit report indicting Senator Okorocha, will draw a quqlity leadership line between the reconciliation dance organised by national party chairman of ruling APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for Senator Hope Uzodinma and Chief Okorocha in Abuja shortly after the Supreme Court ruling where they reconciled.
Recall that the real trouble for Senator Okorocha had started when the Imo State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Contracts indicted former Governor Rochas Okorocha over the alleged fraudulent award of contracts during his time as governor.
Besides, the remarks made by the Imo State Auditor General, Ebenezer Osuji, to the commission that his office was neither aware of contracts the state government awarded, nor had documents of such contracts in the years under focus, remains a humongous evidence of abuse of power, procurement process and appropriation by former Governor Okorocha.
According to Osuji, “All contracts documents awarded by the state government ought to be sent to the Auditor General’s Office and Attorney General’s Office, but the provision was largely observed in breach within the period under review”.
As Imolites awaits for the next few days given by the Commission’s Chairman, Justice Benjamin Iheka, to the state Auditor General and the Auditor General for Local Governments to submit their audited reports from June 2011 to May 2019 within seven days, who knows how Senator Hope Uzodinma will tract the eight years of Okorocha in the state?
