After 18 meritorious years of service as Director, Corporate Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) weekend, Mr. Tony Ojobo has retired opening a window of opportunity for yet, another public affairs czar, Mr. Nnamdi Nwokike to step in.
No doubt, the social media has been awash with commendations for Ojobo over his indisputable objectiveness, pragmatism and dispassionate methodological preferences on duty within his days at the Commission.
However, industry pundits who spoke to Business Hilights weekend averred that both the Commission and industry players have nothing to lose as another astute manager of perception and corporate image, Mr. Nnamdi Nwokike has assumed duties with the needed spirit and intelligence after all.
Analysts say the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof Umar Danbatta, made no mistake in naming Nwokike, Ojobo’s replacement based on his antecedents both in the Commission and personal life.
Nwokike, who is the Director, Corporate Planning, Strategy and Risk Management Department at NCC is a round-peg in the round hole.
Several media executives who have run into him over the years described Nwokike as a real right man for the job.
Business Hilights prays for him and wishes that he improves on the structure laid by the former director and better put, relate seamlessly with the media community in Nigeria, including the print, broadcast and mainly the online news gateways which appeared to have been sidelined.
