Strong indications suggesting that discussions are ongoing between the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the African Development Bank (ADB) for the changing of the infrastructure-thirst narratives of Nigerian seaports very soon.

This stemmed from signals received from several hours of official discussions with visiting AfDB team to the corporate headquarters of the Authority on Marina, Lagos on Tuesday.

Though details were not made public, sources say key discussions were more on how to improve infrastructure at the ports.

It was not clear if the move is part of new plan to upgrade infrastructure by the government without recourse to the fact that there is existing understanding between NPA and port terminal concessionaires on the upgrade of port infrastructure which industry experts say that has not been seen.

Recall that only less than one month ago, NPA took delivery of a World Bank document on reviewing templates for seaport concessions, an indication that the Authority may begin review of port concession agreements which it has continued to postpone in the last five years.
