As part of deepening regional aviation intelligence and safety, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), have sealed an agreement to drive cross-border joint search and rescue exercise in air traffic-related emergencies.
In his brief remarks, Managing Director of NAMA, Captain Fola Akinkuotu, said the agreement was in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirements to enhance operational synergy in air traffic management between both countries.
The deal provided clear guidelines and procedures for collaboration on aircraft and weather or terrain information sharing.
The collaboration will further focus better application of search and rescue equipment in the event of incidents or accidents and manpower deployment.
Apart from the search and rescue deal, both agencies signed Letters of Agreement that specify operating procedures for tactical separation of aircraft between Lagos and Accra.
