NGX All-Share Index snaps losing streak, up 0.66%

Snapping five consecutive sessions of losses, the domestic bourse posted a 0.66% rebound to close at 51,091.75 points. Recovery in DANGCEM (+8.30%) as well as buying interest in UBN (-4.63%), OANDO (+5.09%) and SEPLAT (+0.04%) drove the market’s strong recovery. As a result, the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 19.61%, while the market capitalization gained ₦180.61bn to close at ₦27.54trn.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions decreasing by 10.86%. A total of 166.97m shares valued at ₦2.74bn were exchanged in 4,398 deals. TRANSCORP (+3.20%) led the volume with 19.34m units while SEPLAT (+0.04) led the value chart in deals worth ₦556.03m.

Market breadth closed negative at a 1.57-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. BUAFOODS (-10.00%) topped twenty-one (21) others on the laggard’s table, while LIVESTOCK (+10.00%) led thirteen (13) others on the leader’s log.
