New Alaba Market Amalgamated Exco coming to grow business—President

Newly elected executives of the Alaba Amalgamated (AA), popularly known as Council of Sectional Heads, Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos State of Nigeria has set out their key targets.

Addressing Markets Business Hilights crew, which monitored the election, the new president, who doubles as the chairman of Electrical Dealers’ Association of Nigeria (EDAN), Ichie Fabian Ezereadi Ezeorjika said “We have just concluded the election and we have our new officers on ground with the mandate to lift Alaba International to the next level.”

“By the Special grace of God, my humble self, the incumbent chairman of EDAN, is elected the President of AA, Hon Yusuf Muyideen is the General Secretary, Hon Buba Mohammed is the PRO, Hon Okwy Ben Okolie is Assistant Secretary, Hon Patrick Iwuagwu is the Treasurer while Hon Charles Odoh of GEDA, who hosted us today in his association’s hall is our Coordinator.

Elated Ichie Ezeorjika explained that “Alaba Amalgamated which is also called Council of Sectional Heads comprises 16 sections that make up Alaba International Market.

“In no particular order, the 16 sections as follows; Olojo Drive and Environ Association (ODEA), Fancy and Furniture Dealers’ Association (FFDA), Sarki Muktar Allied Traders’ Association (SMATA), Electrical Dealers’ Association of Nigeria (EDAN), Industrial Materials Dealers’ Association (IMDA), Ifelodun Market Association (IMA), Idera-Oluwa Market people Association (IOMPA), United Plaza Association (UPA), Ojo International Trade Centre (OITC), Alaba International Modern Market (AIMM), General Electric Dealers’ Association (GEDA), Saint Peter’s Ilufe Traders’ Association (SPITA), Gabgold Business Association (GBA), International Market Association Electronics (IMAE), and Saint Peter’s Ibidoja Electronics and Allied Dealers’ Association (SPIEADA).

AA President gave details of other executive members including Hon Yusuf Muyideen, who is the General Secretary, Hon Buba Mohammed as PRO, Hon Okwy Ben Okolie is Assistant Secretary, Hon. Patrick Iwuagwu is the Treasurer while Hon Charles Odoh of GEDA, who hosted the election in his association’s hall, is the Coordinator.

So, we have taken off with the aim of working together to take the market to the next level.

Giving an insight on the mandate of the new Exco, the President said “My number one role is to make sure that there is peaceful co-existence among the whole sections and to work together as the Executive team in bringing progress to the generality of Alaba International traders and our millions of customers.

On his message to all sections of Alaba International market, Ichie Ezeorjika charged traders to continue to be straight forward in whatever deal that they have with any customer with the aim of sustaining the good image of Alaba International.

He further encouraged them to also support the new Exco in working with government to deliver infrastructural development like roads and other facilities.

The new president also called on the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who he said had begun a good mission in the state to work for everybody and remember Alaba International in development projects.

Corroborating the views of the President, the new PRO, Alhaji Buba Mohammed “We are going to join heads together with the president and the whole elected officers to bring more changes to Alaba and take Alaba amalgamated to the next level.

According to him, “What we mean by next level in Alaba is that we are going to create more windows of opportunities for traders by bringing changes many people will see in terms of security, development and alliance with the government to bring government presence to Alaba International.

Also speaking, the Secretary General, Hon Yusuf Adekola, from Ifelodun Market Association, described Alaba International Market as largest electronics market in sub Saharan Africa but decried that “We have not seen the presence of the state government in the market. So I want the Governor to come to our aid because during the election we gave him support and we are not seeing the turnout of the support, so we want government’s presence in Alaba.

Adding his voice, Chief Patrick Iwuagu, the treasurer of amalgamated and the chairman of Industrial Material Dealers Association revealed that the new Exco will lead the market for two years pending when the tenure of the president will expire in EDAN section.

He said he would want the new Exco amongst other things, to be remembered on how it coordinated the people; how it upgraded the security and partnered with both the local and state government to take Alaba to the next level especially in terms of roads and electricity.
