NBC’s Africast 2018 begins today in Abuja, high emphasis expected on DSO

All is set for the takeoff of the 2018 Africast Summit today in Abuja by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
Details from the federal agency on Monday disclosed that this year’s summit is designed to gather broadcasting pundits for fruitful discursions on how best to deliver Digital Switch Over (DSO) in Africa
Already, strategic issues for discussion have been drawn up for a successful hosting of this year’s Africast Summit.
In an interview, the Coordinator of the event and senior officer at NBC, Mrs. Maimuna Jimada, said “the 12th biennial conference of Africa Broadcasters, Africast 2018 with the theme: ‘The Dynamics of Broadcasting in the Digital Era’, is expected to come up with a strategic roadmap that will revolutionize progress in African DSO activities.
The event runs from today, October 23 to Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the Ladi Kwali Hall of Abuja Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, Nigeria.
Director General of NBC, Mallam Is’haq Modibbo Kawu noted that “Africast has fast become the biggest and most comprehensive broadcast and media industry event on the Continent and offers a unique platform for knowledge sharing and networking for digital broadcasters, broadcast regulators, communicators, broadcast content providers, equipment manufacturers and vendors, policy makers and other stakeholders from all over Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world”.
The agency further averred that “At Africast 2018, our guests will experience three days of varied participation of up to 1000+ delegates from across the globe. It is a platform for world-class exposition showcasing the very best in creativity, innovation and technological advancements in Africa’s broadcast and media ecosystem”.
Business Hilights gathered that the main features of Africast 2018 include An array of Keynote presentations, illuminating discussions and expert roundtables; A content market showcasing exclusive screenings of African Content in addition to an exchange platform for quality African content; and an integrated world class EXPO exhibiting the latest in broadcast and media technology
