The Chief of staff (CoS) to the Abia State Governor, ACB Agbazuere has called on cattle herders and farmer’s in the state to eschew any act of violence capable of breaching the existing peace in the state.
Dr Agbazuere who stated this yesterday when he received in audience, members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria (MACBAN), Abia State Chapter who paid him a courtesy visit in his office urged them to be ambassadors of peace in their respective host communities.
The Chief of staff while describing Abia as the most peaceful state in the country disclosed that the state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has set up mediation committees at the state and local government area’s to check farmlands destruction and killing of cows in other to avoid cases of farmer’s/herder’s clashes in the state with a view to settling it amicably.
He used the platform to call on the Fulani leader’s in the state to remain good ambassadors of peace as well as to go back and sensitise their people on the need for peaceful coexistence amongst them.
In their separate speeches, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder’s Association Of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, Alhaji Hassan Buba, the Secretary, Alhaji Amed Baba, the Chairman, Abia State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Alhaji Musa Iheakaram while commending Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for appointing Dr A.C.B Agbazuere as his Chief of staff said they came to felicitate with him on his appointment as well as to present to the state government their leader’s in the state who will stand as their representatives.
They appreciated Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the relative peace they are enjoying in the state and promised to pay their Hajj fees to the state government instead of paying to the neighbouring states as a mark of love and support for the present administration.
