Anger, frustration and protest is currently loading in Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State over what they residents described as total destruction of their hitherto good roads by trucks owned by Dangote Group.

Before now, analysts have argued that majority of Nigerians looking for calm and serene environment to reside in Lekki axis in the last couple of years may begin to have a rethink very soon in view of the incoming of three major traffic-driving ventures including Dangote refinery, new airport and Free Trade Zone.
Even though none of the ventures has matured, signals coming from the axis from pressure on roads by trucks owned by Dangote Group are becoming unbearable. Some of residents who spoke to Business Hilights over the weekend claimed that Dangote branded trucks and articulated vehicles have destroyed their roads and allied infrastructure, saying Ibeju-Lekki roads are no longer accessible due to no fault of theirs.
One of the residents, who gave his name as Jide, argued that “Since the construction of the Ibeju lekki road that link up with Epe, the road and other infrastructure have been in good condition and there wasn’t a day our roads and infrastructure are damaged the way they are today.”
“Since Alhaji Dangote commenced business in Ibeju lekki axis, within a short time, the roads and other infrastructure have been damaged and the roads are no longer motorable. The roads are destroyed by Dangote’s trucks
Continuing, he advised that “The Baale of all our communities and our monarchs should invite Dangote or write him to fix the roads and infrastructure destroyed by his trucks”.
“Dangote must fix our roads and infrastructure that are destroyed by his trucks. Dangote should be held responsible for this.
“I urge all our traditional leaders and monarchs to write Alhaji Dangote about this misfortune that is affecting our people in Ibeju lekki. Dangote must fix our roads and infrastructure destroyed or damaged by his trucks,” Jide averred in anger.
