At last and few minutes ago, jubilation went viral for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as incumbent Governor, Barr Nyesom Wike, has won the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Rivers State.
The final results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Port Harcourt on Wednesday evening showed that PDP polled a total of 886,264 votes to defeat Biokpomabo Awara of the African Action Congress (AAC), who could only win 173859 votes.
The result showed a distant difference of 712,405 votes which can stand as the largest margin of win by a state governorship election in the finally concluded 2019 election.
The win has extended number of states controlled by the PDP to 14 as the ruling APC maintains lead.
