The Nigerian organized labour, a consortium of leading labour unions including Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), United Labour Congress (ULC) and civil societies has called off the warning strike which started on last week Thursday.

President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba who disclosed this on Sunday, linked the suspension to what he described as firm commitment by the Federal Government to reconvene the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.

Otherwise, by this development, workers are expected to resume on Tuesday after the Independence Day public holiday on Monday.

Business Hilights recalls that the crux of the matter had been federal government’s foot-dragging in coming up with its figure of the expected new minimum wage as other parties to the Committee had earlier given their figure waiting for government so that an agreed figure will be determined by the handling tripartite body.
