INEC, Keyamo, Ogini’s Channels TV interview and denial of owning a server
Whereas every Nigerian interested in the ongoing proceedings at the 2019 Presidential Election Tribunal, holding at the Appeal Court complex, Abuja, continue to wait for the ruling on latest application of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar on permission to examine INEC server, whatever will be the ruling by Justice Mohammed Garba led Justices may well be a turning point in Nigeria’s presidential election petition.
The ruling is highly awaited as the European Union Election Observer Mission weekend released its final report, fingering massive transparency crisis at collation level exactly the same point the INEC server is programmed to tidy up.
Already, as all eyes and mindset are aiming at June 24, analysts say the curious question about this matter is what INEC server did the likes of Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, a chieftain of APC and Chief Spokesperson of the Buhari Campaign Organization once claimed Atiku/PDP had hacked into?
Recall that Keyamo had made it clear when the PDP opened up that it has the real election results as electronically transmitted to the INEC server.
He relied on the provisions of the Cyber Act for which, still according to him, Atiku was liable to be prosecuted and jailed for an indeterminate period.
Keyamo had, many will recall, through written petitions addressed to the IGP and DSS, called for investigations into the alleged hacking, Atiku’s arrest and prosecution. Whereas some Nigerians who were concerned about the issue had wondered why Keyamo as an apparent sympathizer for a ‘bereaved’ INEC was weeping more than the bereaved, the election umpire never then, came out to say it had no server so as to save Keyamo and anxious Nigerians further stress.
Reverse back to pre-election build up and recall a studio interview conducted by Seun Akin, Channels TV Political Programme presenter where the Akwa Ibom INEC Commissioner, Barr Mike Ogini barred it all, explaining how one out of the two INEC’s returning officers at polling stations is trained to electronically transmit results direct to the central server to avoid any form of manipulation while transiting the physical score sheet to the collation centre.
Well, today, the entire storyline is hanging in the balance and extremely dependant only on the pronouncement of the Mohammed Garba led, Presidential Election Tribunal in his highly awaited ruling on PDP application to examine, specifically, the server used for the presidential election.
