Pioneer indigenous investor in auto sector and President of the Cocharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, has raised an issue of urgent national importance, saying the level of insecurity across highways leading to major cities has crossed the red line.

In his lecture at the 7th edition of the Leading Edge Conference and Business Summit organised by The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (Vision House) in Abuja, he said “insecurity on Nigerian highways is frustrating both local and indigenous investors.”

According to him, “A situation where businessmen have had to move about with gun-wielding escorts and security operatives as if they were going to the war does not portend a friendly environment for investors.

“We need to fix this country and get the level of confidence where true investors will come,” Dr Maduka said.

Giving further insights Executive Orders bordering on ease of doing business in the country, Coscharis boss argued that the environment is not right, stressing that “There is no need for us to fool ourselves about it. The government has a lot to do so as to create confidence. When you are talking about investors, these are people that have already made money and they are capitalists. But nobody values money more than their life. When you are coming from the airport and somebody with two guns will have to escort you, you know that you are going to the war front. Have you seen a good investment in a war front?” Dr Maduka queried.
