The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, Yusuf Kazaure, has revealed that his agency is set to drive the emerging electronic/e-Government Master Plan, which was approved by the previous Federal Executive Council.
Galaxy Backbone datacenter is expected to provide the infrastructure that will facilitate the implementation of Nigeria’s electronic/e-Government Master Plan, which was approved by the previous Federal Executive Council.
Recall that Galaxy Backbone (GBB), is the digital infrastructure and shared services provider to government and all its agencies. It provides the technology platform through which the Master plan will be implemented for the entire country.
Findings show that the goal of the e-Government is to provide a transparent, competent, service-oriented digital base, and information-sharing hub as well as offer access to government’s services online with ease.
He said in line with the recent unveiling of the datacenter, the federal government will begin the full implementation of the Master Plan, which is meant to set Nigeria apart in the League of Nations, effectively delivering services using digital technologies and infrastructure, in earnest.
Continuing, the chief executive disclosed that the state of the art Tier III Datacentre has been infused with latest infrastructure, computers, storage and the largest dedicated tech structure and network suitable for public and private consumption in Nigeria.
He said “We have succeeded in installing fibre cables in 13 states of the federation under the first phase of this project. The second phase, which has commenced, will see Galaxy Backbone cover virtually all states within the country interlinking government MDAs with a dedicated network. This vast network is open to be leased for both public and private sector companies.”
