Forget diesel, petrol, power your automobiles with LPG, CNG, Ooni tells fleet owners
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has called on Nigerians and mainly fleet operators, government agencies and other vehicle owners to power their automobiles with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Compressed Natural Gas CNG), and move away from petrol and diesel.
Making the call over the weekend when the leadership of the THLD Group, Vitol Group and the UBA Group paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Ile-Ife, he argued that powering vehicles with LPG and CNG would have a positive effect on humans and the environment, because it would reduce carbon dioxide emission, which is contributing to the depletion of the ozone layer.
The groups had visited him to deepen campaign on the use of gas to power vehicles in the country.
The monarch, who doubles as the Chairman of the THLD Group, said using gas to power vehicles was more economical, adding that it would increase the profit margins of transport companies and reduce costs on private and government vehicles.
While advising vehicle owners to convert their vehicles and fit gas cylinders in them so as to enable them to refill with gas, the Ooni, who stated that he was passionate about youth empowerment, noted that he would support the project so as to make Nigeria great and ready to join the rest of the world on the initiative.
