Considering a possible risk to aviation safety due to battery overheating, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) barred airlines from carrying Apple Macbook Pro on their flights.

NCAA relied further on the latest recall of the product model: RETINA, 15 MID 2015 by the manufacturer due to battery problem.

In a terse circular dated September 25 and signed by the Director of Operations and Training, NCAA, Capt. Abdullahi Sidi, on behalf of the Director General, Capt. Muhtar Usman, seen by Business Hilights, said “This is to inform all operators and service providers that the carriage of Macbook Pro Model: RETINA, 15 MID 2015 with immediate effect is hereby barred on all flights.”

Some international airlines who spoke to our correspondent in Abuja said they are aware of the warning and noted that even before the warning; their management had placed serious boarding checks to make sure that no passenger is allowed to board carrying the device.
