Leading Indian auto export, Bajaj Auto Group and its Nigerian arm, Bajaj Auto Limited and its distribution partner in Nigeria, DAG Motorcycles Limited may soon begin to experience serious drop in sales following the recent Lagos State policy that limited the use of their flagship products.
The company remains the major suppliers of popular motorcycles and tricycles in Nigeria.
However, the recent move of the company to go beyond Lagos and open 28 new camps across the country to offer repair services to patrons of its three-wheeler and two-wheeler automobiles, may be its saving grace after the Lagos hit.
Business Hilights recalls that the company which is reputed to be the world’s largest manufacturer of three-wheeler and two-wheeler automobiles placed much value on the Nigerian market.
The Indian company had recently stormed major cities across the country to offer free service/checkup camps for the three-wheeler owners and riders.
In a statement, the company averred that the 28 new camps where the company opened service centres included Abuja, Jos, Minna and Suleja.
Other cities in the list included Nasarawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, Bauchi, Jigawa, Yobe, Adamawa and Borno, Kano, Zaria and Kaduna and Lagos.
According to the group, “Manufacturers all over the world have gone beyond just producing and selling their products. They now provide consumers and customers with value-added services.
“Nigeria is a very important market for us and that is why we are working tirelessly to come up with products to serve the various needs of its people.”
However, with the Lagos partial ban and may go state-wide sooner, there are strong indications that the company may begin to review its presence in Nigeria in view of more states coming up with similar restrictions.
