Air Peace bags IOSA certification for safety standards in flight operations
Star indigenous airline, Air Peace Airline weekend received the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification for ranking highest in Nigeria’s compliance to safety standard and procedures.
Business Hilights recalls that IOSA is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
Industry stakeholders agree that IATA remains the global supervisors for 285 airlines worldwide, through the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) programme which relies on consistently auditing the safety standards of air carriers around the world.
In his remarks while making the presentation of the IOSA certificate to Air Peace airlines, Head of Account Management, IATA West and Central Africa, Dr. Samson Fatokun, hailed the indigenous champion for upholding high standards of safety in its flight operations.
He noted that the IOSA audit creates a standard that is comparable on a world-wide basis, enabling and maximising the joint use of audit reports. This has saved the industry over 6400 redundant audits and continues to lead to extensive cost-savings for IOSA participating airlines.
While recalling that many airlines had started the safety audit but were unable to complete it, Dr Fatokun congratulated Air Peace team for achieving the rare feat.
According to him, “It gives me joy to present this certificate today because I know it’s the fruit of painstaking effort of your team. Scaling through this third safety audit process is a testament to Air Peace’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards in its operations.
“Safety is IATA’s number one priority, and for any airline to pass the safety audit, its safety compliance must be 100 per cent, and Air Peace has met this prerequisite.
“Many airlines are not able to achieve this because they don’t have the discipline and hard work, which have consistently earned Air Peace this safety recognition. The certificate gives the airline a global recognition as a 100 percent safety-compliant airline,” Fatokun said.
Responding, Ihiala-Anambra State born Chairman of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyema, said the IOSA certificate was something to be proud of, adding that Air Peace is becoming the emerging force in Africa’s aviation landscape.
The CEO, who commended the entire Air Peace team for a successful safety audit, expressed gratitude to the IATA team, saying the airline would always align with global best practices and safety standards.
Also speaking, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Air Peace, Toyin Olajide, averred that the certification was another feather to the Air Peace’s cap confirming the airline’s uncompromising adherence to safety standards in line with global best practices.
