The Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) has informed the general public and all taxpayers in the state that it is now mandatory to obtain the Imo State Social Benefit Number (IMSSBN).
A statement made available to Business Hilights explained that “The IMSSBN serves as a unique personal identification number for all taxpayers in Imo State and is a compulsory prerequisite for all payments made into the State Treasury Single Account (TSA).”
Giving more insights, the Executiv3 Chairman of IIRS, Mr. Justice Okoye, FCA, made it clear that “Henceforth, all services rendered by the Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS), including vehicle registration and renewal, change of ownership, driver’s licence processing, tax clearance, and other related transactions, must be linked to an IMSSBN.
“Taxpayers are strongly advised to ensure that the name on their IMSSBN corresponds exactly with the name on their receipts and payment records.
IIRS statement also noted that “Receipts will not be issued in cases where there is a name mismatch between the IMSSBN and payment details

- Any IIRS Office across the state
