Following a careful review of the entire scenarios surrounding the declaration of ‘Oil Subsidy is gone’ by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural speech on Monday without recourse to the plights of Nigerian workers and no palliative structure on ground, the leadership of NLC and TUC today met in Abuja and resolved to embark on strike effective Wednesday next week.

According the President of NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, the organized labour cannot seat with anybody that calls him or herself government representative without portfolio.

He explained that discussing labour issues with somebody without a clear portfolio and mandate is useless because a minister will come tomorrow and claim ignorance of whatever we have toiled to arrive at.

So, the NLC and YUC are calling on the government to first reverse to statuesque, form government before taking policy decisions like removing oil subsidy.

The federal government is yet to respond on the latest Labour stand over strike.
