Bearish sentiments drove the domestic bourse today as the NGX All-Share Index closed 0.40% lower to 51,586.5 points – the lowest point since 22 June, marking its second successive session decline. Selloffs in BUAFOODS (-6.36%), ZENITHBANK (-2.04%) and FBNH (-5.63%) underpinned the market’s weak performance. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 20.76%, while the market capitalization shed ₦110.49bn to close at ₦27.81trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions declining by 8.95%. A total of 234.61m units of shares valued at ₦2.57bn were exchanged in 4,646 deals. CAP (-6.34%) led the volume chart with 29.32m units traded, while GTCO (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦592.44m.
Market breadth closed positive at a 1.44-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. REDSTAREX (+10.00%) topped twenty-two (22) others on the gainer’s log while INTBREW (-9.52%) led fifteen (15) others on the laggard’s table.
