Recent global CEO appointments in leading technology conglomerates have presented a rather surprising trend as Indians sweep almost all top management positions across known tech giants.
This is as the AMCON-managed domestic carrier, Aero Contractors, said it has engaged Indian software firm, Ramco, on the automation and expansion of its Maintenance-Repair-Overhaul (MRO) facility in Lagos.
The Managing Director of Aero, Capt. Ado Sanusi, said the partnership would cost the carrier N200m over a period of five years.
However, a review of other recently appointed chief executive officers of global leaders in technology showed a departure from Americans, Europeans and even Chinese to Indians.
For instance, currently, IBM is lead by an Indian, Mr Arvind Krishna, Nokia by Rajeev Suri, Harman by DC Paliwal and Novartis by VK Narasimhan.
Other Indians holding sway on other leading global tech giants include but not limited to Mr L Nasimhan as CEO of Reckitt Benckiser, Ajay Banga leads masterCard, Shantanu Narayen manages Adobe as Ivan Menezes handles Diageo Corporation.
Additional global checks also showed that US tech giant, Google has joined the bandwagon of Indian CEOs with Sundar Pichai as another US group; Microsoft is being managed by another Indian, Mr Satya Nadella
In his defence for going to India other than other tech-driven economies and companies, Aero Contractor’s CEO averred that Ramco, a Chennai, India-based Information Technology firm, would be bringing its expertise to automate the processes of Aero MRO facility which he said had carried out repairs on over 20 aircraft in Nigeria and West and Central Africa since it began operations in 2017.
According to him, while the partnership commenced July 2019, the airline’s MRO operations went live in December, thus “By implication, every aspect of the airline’s MRO services can now be accessed and tracked real time for enhanced efficiency,” he said.
Capt Sanusi argued that whereas the MRO’s services increased in scope with more third-party equipment, it became necessary to have improved streamlining of operations through digitilisation.
The General Manager, Africa, Europe and Middle East Ramco, Menaka Sinha, said the software, a fully web-based application, had been developed specifically for the aviation industry and had been tested and trusted by world aviation leaders.
