After high level pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disclose the total number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) so far collected by the 84 million registered voters in Nigeria, the Commission this afternoon said 72, 775, 502 Nigerians have signed off their PVCs.
The difference of 11,228,582 million, representing 13.5 per cent are uncollected PVCs.
The two leading presidential hopefuls including Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC will join other 71 presidential candidates to drag the over 72 million votes on Saturday.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, who continued his daily media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, said about 11.2 million PVCs are not collected as at the last day of collected before the postponement of the election.
INEC revealed that all the uncollected cards had been deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), adding that Lagos has the highest number of collected PVCs which stands at 5.5 million while Ekiti State with 666,591 cards has the lowest.
