VP Kassim Shettima and Gov. Uzodimma Honouring Hon. Emeka Ihedioha during the recent Imo@50
Whereas the Imo at 50 celebration has come and gone, there remains a certain dust around His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha that was raised within the period that may not easily settle until the outcome of the Imo 2028 off cycle guber elections.
First of all, the first wave of the dust started with the Imo State Government, on 7th February 2026 honouring amongst few others, former Governor of the state, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, with the prestigious Grand Service Star of Imo State (GSSI) in recognition of his distinguished service and his measurable contributions to the growth and advancement of the state.
No doubt, the instantaneous second wave can be observed when the same Emeka Ihedioha emerged as one of the most admired personalities at the Imo @50 Golden Jubilee celebration, as his presence attracted widespread attention and warm reception from dignitaries, invited guests, and citizens who gathered at the Government House, Owerri, for the historic ceremony.
Even before heading to the imports of the magnificent photograph where he, Ihedioha was chatting with former Secretary General of Commonwealth, his sake, Chief Emeka Anyaoku near Ooni of Ife and Eze Imo, it is important that the pictorial scenario paints a very futuristic imagery that will soon resonate to statewide reality come January 2028.

Business Hilights can authoritatively report that from the moment of his arrival, the former governor received sustained applause and cordial greetings from attendees. Elegantly attired and composed, Ihedioha carried himself with quiet confidence and dignity, reflecting the bearing of a statesman whose years in public service have earned enduring respect across political and social circles. Many participants regarded his appearance as one of the defining highlights of the event, as admirers and well-wishers took turns to exchange pleasantries with him.
Still on the continuous showcasing of Emeka Ihedioha as the possible next governor, may be without knowing it, the award ceremony took place in the presence of senior government officials, governors from several states, political leaders, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other distinguished guests from across Nigeria, all assembled to commemorate fifty years of Imo State’s creation.
Now, the boom! The honour was formally presented by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, alongside the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who jointly conferred the award on Rt. Hon. Ihedioha to resounding applause from the audience. This is the pseudo-climax of showcasing Imo’s next governor.
Clinically, the recognition underscored Ihedioha’s record in public service and his contributions to governance, democratic development, and institutional strengthening in Imo State and Nigeria. Speakers at the event emphasized that honouring individuals who have strengthened democratic institutions and upheld responsible leadership remains essential to preserving the integrity of public service.
Besides, there seems to be no other top Imolite in the race for 2028 that sat within the bigger but magnificent circle table at the just concluded Imo@50, a seating arrangement that must keep many political calculators mainly those in APC in serious thinking spree and restlessness even though the time for the real race is seemingly far to ordinary fellow in the game of Imo politics after all.
