Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo State
The Imo State Government has announced a 10-day extension for the submission and verification of claims related to the acquisition of approximately 30.6 hectares of land in the Iheoma Oil Field area.
This extension supports the planned construction of a modular refinery, a key project aimed at boosting the state’s industrial and energy sector.
In a public notice issued by the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning (Office of the Honourable Commissioner), the extension applies to the claims survey exercise for land situated at Umudibia/Umuerim/Umukoto in Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area. The land is being acquired for public purposes to facilitate the establishment of the modular refinery.
The notice, dated January 29, 2026, and signed by Hon. Barr. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, Honourable Commissioner for Lands, builds on an earlier public announcement from November 2025 by the Office of the Surveyor General. It states that the claims submission period is now extended by ten (10) days from the date of publication of this latest notice. “All persons, families, communities, landowners, occupiers, and other interested parties having or claiming any right, title, or interest in the said land are required to present themselves within the extended period with all relevant documents and evidence in support of their claims”.
