Leading power industry stakeholder and chairman, Ndubest Powerlines Limited and Ndubest Investment Limited, promoters of Best Solar range of products in Nigeria and Africa, Chief Ndubuisi Livinus Hyacinth Ohia has explained why after years of rejection, he decided to receive chieftaincy honours.
Speaking with the team of Business Hilights editors in his office in Lagos, Chief Ohia, who was recently crowned Chukwubuteuzo n’Isi-Ihiteowerri by HRM, Eze Amb. Dr. Damian Emeka Obianigwe, ksm, Ezeoha, Obi of Isi-Ihiteowerri and Ife Adigo n’Ochasiato Ancient Kingdom by HRM, Eze Ugonna Iriele, Duruosimiri the 6th, Obi of Ogberuru ancient kingdom, revealed that he started accepting chieftaincies after he was convinced by family members and friends that it a mark of hard work and competence to be given a traditional honour in one’s community or neighbouring towns.
According to him, “To be frank, I have been avoiding this for a very long time. Otherwise, the call for chieftaincies has been coming to me for years but my excuses is that I have not done enough that warrant me taking chieftaincies.
“Besides, I have been pleading with our royal fathers and different monarchs that know me very well including communities around my area to give me more little time to do what I have in mind to do for my community and society before taking any chieftaincies.
Continuing, Chukwubuteuzo added that “However, this time around, the calls are becoming unbearable to the extent that I can no longer run away from it due to what many say I have been doing in the society.
“For instance, if you are from my community, you will observe that during this past yuletide season, solar street light covered from my community boundaries between Obibi and Ihiteowerri communities down to very close to my community central market, Ahia Ututu in Amanator-Ihiteowerri which we are believing God that the installation will continue until we get to the final place or next community border junction.
“Few years ago, I constructed a bus stop structure at St. Martins Catholic Church junction and so many other things I have been doing to my community and neighbouring ones as a way of giving back to the society.
It would be recalled that couple of years ago, his lead company, Ndubest Investment Limited had not only donated, but also installed a gigantic 500KV transformer in Amanator-Ihiteowerri to drive community development.
“This December, we distributed palliatives and gift of bags of rice and other season’s gift to the community and apart from that, I still believe that more will come so long as there is life and progress.
“To my understanding, award of chieftaincy is a way of community appreciating what have been doing for the progress of the community.
“I also know very well that when you are told thank you, it means to do more. It is another task. So I pray that by the special grace of God, we will continue to do more for our community and neighbours in our region.
It is not just taking chieftaincy and relax. It’s just a way of appreciation for what you have done and an encouragement for you to do more.
“This season, I received double chieftaincy honours. The first one was Chukwubuteuzo n’Isi-Ihiteowerri from the Traditional Ruler of Isi-Ihiteowerri community, HRM, Eze Amb. Dr. Damian Emeka Obianigwe, ksm, Ezeoha, Obi of Isi-Ihiteowerri.
The second one also within the period was Ife Adigo n’Ochasiato Ancient Kingdom from HRM, Eze Ugonna Iriele, Duruosimiri the 6th, Obi of Ogberuru ancient kingdom.
Let me explain; the first title, Chukwubuteuzo means that in your life, in everything that you do, God should start first before any other thing while the second one, Ife Adigo means ‘the light has come’.
Giving further details on his feelings after the title installations, he averred that “The truth of the matter is that the call for chieftaincy has been coming for too long and this time around when the pressure became too much, I consulted family members and friends, who encouraged and supported me to go for them.
“I was made to understand that giving me chieftaincy title shows that our people have seen the little we have done and they are happy to appreciate me.
