I, Chief Eric Ifeanyichukwu Ilechukwu (Akunwafo-Anyirico) President, Association of Progress Traders (APT), welocme you all to our business centre on this first day of business at the APT section of the Lagos International Trade Fair complex.
In no particular order, Distinguished Executive, Highly esteemed members of the board of trustee (BOT) Line chairmen, Builders, Promoters , plaza owners, corporate organizations and APTians in general.
I warmly welcome you all to the official opening of APT 2026 business year.
I give glory to God for His preservation, provision, and guidance over us throughout the past year and during the holiday. Despite economic fluctuations and market uncertainties, APT stood strong. We traded, we learned, we grew, and today we gather with renewed hope and confidence to begin another business year together.
A YEAR OF PURPOSE, DISCIPLINE, AND EXCELLENCE
The year 2026 is not just another calendar year; it is a year of purpose, discipline, and excellence for the Association of Progressive Traders. As traders and entrepreneurs, our conduct, attitude, and professionalism will determine how far we go both individually and collectively.
I therefore use this opportunity to speak from my heart to every APT member.
ADVICE TO MEMBERS: GOOD CONDUCT & PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Integrity Must Be Our Trademark
Let honesty define our dealings. Let your word be your bond. Short-term gains through dishonest practices destroy long-term trust and reputation. As APT members, we must be known for transparency, fairness, and credibility.
- Professional Customer Service Is Non-Negotiable
Customers are the lifeblood of our businesses. Treat every customer with respect, patience, and courtesy regardless of the size of their purchase. Listen attentively, communicate clearly, and resolve complaints amicably. A satisfied customer is your best advertisement.
- Respect for Rules and Authority
Obey market regulations, association guidelines, and government policies. Lawlessness and disregard for authority bring unnecessary conflicts that hinder business growth. Discipline is a sign of maturity and progress.
- Unity and Mutual Respect Among Members
Avoid unhealthy competition, gossip, and conflicts. Support one another, protect one another’s interests, and remember that when one member succeeds, the Association gains strength.
- Pay your utility bill on time to enable the association to give you the best of service.
- This is our election year. Electoral processes must be followed. No direct or indirect campaign until the campaign is flagged off. To avoid (AKWA-UNU-AHULA) the story that touches the heart, play by the rules.
- Opening and closing time of the market will be strictly managed this year. It is not going be business as usual.
- The Task force of the market resumes immediately to take care of differences within their jurisdiction.
- Security matters, theft, stealing, robbery and other security issues should be reported to the office of CSO and thereafter the CSO will contact the police as usual.
- Every civil matter in the association should go to APT ARBITRATION.
